From Joseph Dickerson:
In the Sheriff`s Writ, William Dickinson (1735-aft. 1782) of
Caroline Co., Maryland married Elizabeth Harrison who was the daughter
of William Harrison and Elizabeth Dickinson.
All my line. Elizabeth Dickinson was the daughter of my 4th
great grandfather John Dickinson III. I recall "Melville`s"
warehouse is referred to in a story about Judge Samuel Dickinson...something
about a meeting to defy the English King. Judge Samuel Dickinson
later moved with his wife Mary Cadwallader and two famous sons,
John Dickinson and Gen. Philemon Dickinson, to near Dover,
DE where the DICKINSON MANSION stands today.

Webmaster's Note: I too
remember reading of "Melville's Warehouse" as a Revolutionary era
meeting place as well as a central marketing area in Denton, I believe.
The Daffins on the Eastern Shore apparently were involved as merchants
and into the shipping business as well. The DAFFIN HOUSE and DAFFIN
FARM was located on the Tuckahoe Neck where boats from the Chesapeake
could dock to unload and pick up merchandise and passengers. I think Rebecca
(Dickinson) Daffin may have been involved, or played a role as much
as her husband Captain Thomas B. Daffin. She was from a powerful
family and probably learned much from her father.
