Henry Daffin 1788
(Will made Dec 25, 1786)
Robert Josey and George Daffin
proved this will the subscribing witness’s
And John Daffin qualified
as the Executor Ordence to certified and record,
In the name of God amen. I
Henry Daffin of Hallifax County of the State of North Carolina being sick
and weak of Body, bur Sound Sense and Memory Thanks be to Almighty God
for the same------ and on Consideration that life and sense is uncertain
I make and constitute and ordain this to be my last will and testament

I give and recommend my soul
to the hands of a loving----- God that gave it , and to my worldly estate,
I give and demise and dispose of in the manner and form following.
Item I give to my loving
wife Nancy Daffin the following legacy given her by her Grandmother( to
wit) one feather bed and furniture, twenty pounds, Virginia(?) money now
in her fathers hands, also the legacy given by her father (to wit) a Negro
bow named Will, one blue chest, one spinning wheel, my mare, her bridle
and saddle fifteen barrels of corn, to her and hers forever.
Item To my loving wife Nancy
Daffin should have a child within 6 months born of her body from the date
here after mentioned and so live to the age of eighteen years of be lawfully
married I give and bequeath to the said child, the land and plantation-------
whereon--------------live also my following Negroes (to wit) Kingston,
James and Lucy to said child do never arise to the above said age of eighteen
years or lawfully married then I bequeath the above said lands and Negroes
to wit) Kingston, James and Lucy to my nephew Henry Daffin, son of my brother
John Daffin to him and his heirs forever.
Item I Positively Order the
rest and residue of my estate to be publicly sold and all my Just Debts
to be paid of the money hence arising and the remainder of said money I
give to my sister Iamina Bryant for the support of her children.
Lastly I appoint my
brother John Daffin Executor to my last will and Testament hereby dissolving
and revoking all other wills and testaments made by me----and do ratify
and confirm this and none other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness
where of I hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-fifth day of December
1786. |
