My grandfather was Horace B. Horton, Sr., After his dad died and because
of the depression he
quit school and went to look for jobs. He told of catching the rails
and riding the train to try and find a
job, and eventually went to work for the Waco-Tribune Herald, at
first just 3 days a week (which was a lot during the depression) and later
full time as a pressman.
