circa 1930...Floyd "Pop Pop" Daffin and friend,
(??) Towers.
NOTE: It was brought to my attention that I had different
names for the TOWERS gentleman above. This photo belonged to my
mother before she died and she did tell me who the man was, but some how
I confused the name. I am not sure if the man is GARDINER TOWERS
or LEON TOWERS...I even worry that the surname is incorrect!! I
will be finding out from my aunt when I send off a copy of the photo hopefully.
Until then, is anybody may recognize him let me know! He is the man on
the left boxing my Grandfather, FLOYD PERRY DAFFIN. I assume he
lived in or near American Corner, Maryland as did we.
Thanks to Joseph Dickerson for bringing this error to my attention!
Here is some new information concerning the TOWERS
gentalman. I received the following from Parker
Todd...
I think the Towers man in the picture
with your "Pop Pop" was Jacob Gardner
Towers (1862-1939), son of Jacob &
Mary Elizabeth (Edgell) Towers of American
Corners. Gardner was married first to Annie
Riechman in 1901 and second to Id May
(Cole) Towers in 1919, she was the widow of
James H. Towers. Gardner's parents are
buried in Union Grove Cem, near Harmony.
Gardner is buried in Hillcrest Cem. in Federalsburg.
